Last night's classic movie:

young-frankenstein.jpg

This just might be my favorite movie of all time. Well, maybe this or The Jerk with Steve Martin. Or Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Or Overboard with Goldie Hawn. And, I am ashamed to admit, but we are the ONLY family I know who owns Weekend at Bernie's on both DVD and video tape.

Yeah. Lowbrow humor. That's me.

Anyway, we watched Young Frankenstein again last night, and again it was a completely enjoyable couple of hours. We can practically recite the script by heart now, but it is still funny!

If you haven't seen this, and you don't mind a little bawdy humor, rent it! It comes with all thumbs up from Casa Southard.

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Igor, would you mind telling me whose brain I did put in?
Igor: And you won't be angry?
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: I will NOT be angry.
Igor: Abby someone.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Abby someone. Abby who?
Igor: Abby Normal.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Abby Normal?
Igor: I'm almost sure that was the name.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA?
[shakes and grabs him]
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE TELLING ME?

I'd say that was my favorite scene but I have so many ... the whole darned movie is a comic classic. Great taste ... again! :-D

Thank you for reminding me of this great movie. I first saw it over 29 years ago while I was dating my lovely wife-to-be. I still laugh about those large doorknockers and the horses' whinny at the mention of “Frau Blucher!

How about:

Dr F: I can help you with that hump.

Igor: What hump?

Great flick indeed. Terri Garr is mesmerizing in that. I think The Jerk is better, but it's not an easy call!

Dear MamaT,

Except for Bernie's, which I haven't seen, you spun off a litany of some of my very favorites, with Young Frankenstein leading the lot.

shalom,

Steven
