Saint With Money

What is it with us Catholics? Wherever we go, we leave something behind us. Rosaries hanging from statues of Our Lady. Money in bird seed holders. You don't much see that at Protestant churches.

It's got to be related to the custom that the Jewish people have of putting a little pebble on the gravestone of anybody they have visited. I used to run my bike through Jewish cemeteries and look at the old headstones and there would be three or four pebbles lined up on top of a headstone.

Sometimes I would see a nice old headstone with a photo behind a piece of convex glass, person died in 1916, no pebbles. So I'd leave one there for them and feel like I comforted them a little.
