Monday Daybook

For Today, March 1, 2010

Outside my window... It is gray and raining. Yucky Monday all around. I'm sick of the gray. I'm sick of cold. Bleah.

I am thinking... about Caryl Houselander's book Reed of God and what a blessing it is being to me this Lent.

I am thankful for... sales at the grocery store on pasta sauce, CheezIts and salsa. Three things we can't do without.

From the kitchen... this is a week without much cooking. Tonight and tomorrow I go to different supper events. Wednesday my sweet hubby and I are going to the Bass to hear Porgy and Bess and we will eat at PF Changs (our Christmas gift from the kids), That just leaves Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I'll think about them later.....

I am wearing... black pants, black shirt with pink, orange and white bold flowers on it. Black sneaks. Perfume and dangly earrings. I'm alternating between depressed and not depressed, I guess!

I am creating... a really cool throw from the Lion Brand website. I've done all twelve squares and started seaming them up. I hope to finish the seaming this afternoon. Then it's on to the border. Surely by next Monday I'll be able to show you a picture.

I am going... nowhere--I've already been today. Been to the church, the post office and the grocery store. Now I'm home until it's time for Women at the Well.

I am reading... The Egg and I by Betty MacDonald. I started it a long time ago, then misplaced the book. When they fixed my car, they detailed the inside and found it stuck under a seat. So, I'm finishing the last few chapters.

I am hoping... that tomorrow will be sunny so I can throw open the shutters and let some fab sunshine in!

I am hearing... the bell on my dryer going off, reminding me that I have work to get to. Not much, as I am mostly taking today off.

Around the house... I need to work on the guest rooms as I have a visitor coming to stay from Wednesday until Monday. A visiting Anglican priest from England, here to meet with my priest and do a talk for our Friday night Lenten supper. I'll have an excuse to warm up the house a little!

One of my favorite things... is my new bookshelf, just custom built for me by a woodworker guy from our parish. It's awesome!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Crochet my "Block a Month" squares. Mop. Straighten out the guest bedrooms, cook something yummy to take to Friday night potluck.

Words I'm pondering "Sometimes it may seem to us that there is no purpose in our lives, that going day after day for years to this office or that school or factory is nothing else but waste and weariness. But it may be that God has sent us there because but for us, Christ would not be there. If our being there means that Christ is there, that alone makes it worthwhile." ---------Caryll Houselander Reed of God

Here is picture thought I am sharing... Isn't this the coolest poster? And don't I wish there were no rain and no cold?
