1. First grade teacher? Miss Scargel. No idea what her first name was. "Miss", I think.

2. Looney Tunes--especially Pepe LePew! He is still my favorite. "Ah, ze little one! She is shy!" I also loved El Kabong--"Exit, stage right!" Rocky and Bullwinkle--especially the Fractured Fairy Tales. The Flintstones. Can you tell what I spent a lot of time watching?

3. Melissa. I mothered her to death in the first grade. I haven't stopped mothering since.

4. Favorite cereal? Rice Krispies, if you were eating them with milk. Out of the box? Cap'n Crunch and Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter. Yummo!

5. After school? Change into "play clothes" (hey, I'm old enough that I had to wear dresses to school in elementary school!), then go outside and ride bikes or roller skate (if it were warm) or watch cartoons (if it were cold). Aaaaaahhhhhh.

1) My first grade teacher was Mrs Linda Barnett.

2) Smurfs amd Thunder Cats

3) Miss Katherine Allen

4) ET cereal . . . tasted kinda like Reese's Pieces cereal (peanut butter and chocolate), gross.

5) Art Lessons (I won a art scholarship as a child and I had drawing and painting lessons several days a week for years. It was magnificent).

1. Sister Bertwina
2. The Warner Brothers cartoons that did cariacatures of real actors (like Frank Sinatra 1/16" thick)
3. Patty
4. Cocoa Krispies
5. Bicycle around the neighborhood and look at other people's gardens and back yards, until the lights went on.

(Do I win a Really Great Nun Name Award?)

Gregg! I remember Quisp and Quake! Quisp had the space guy, and Quake had the lumberjack guy. I had sort of a crush on ol' Quake!

Sometimes these Friday Fives are out of my realm of reality, but I can do this one.

1. First Grade Teacher-Sister Eunice. She and I had kind of a love-hate relationship, depending on the day.

2. Favorite Saturday Morning Cartoon-Scooby-Doo by a long shot. There were other great ones in the early to mid 70s too (the heyday of cartoons), but Scooby is the one that I could NOT miss.

3. First Best Friend?-It's hard to discern in the mists of time, but in my post-toddler/preschooler years, the little girl across the street named Heather was love at first sight, and I hold a bit of a flame for her to this day. The boy who lived next door to my grandmother's house, Stacy, was also a best pal from my earliest memories. These are the two close, sustained friendships that date back the farthest and whose beginning I can't remember because I was just so young.

4. Favorite breakfast cereal-Wheat Chex. Boring, I know, but it's become a habit since my metabolism began to slow in my early thirties.

5. Favorite after school activity-In spring, summer and fall, it was geting on my bicycle with my neighborhood buddies and looking for adventures of various times, inventing some when we couldn't find any. In winter, that long, steep hill across the street just beckoned to us with our sleds, and the frozen river called to us with our ice skates.

Can someone clear this up for me...

Was Space Ghost at a later date "The Schmoo?" Or was the Schmoo part of the Herculoids? Late, but answers follow...

Miss Buchanun. One part school marm, two parts hippie. I dug her.

In 1st grade...I dunno...Or Scooby Doo or a Son of Svengouli Creature Feature.

A Plastic Squirrel that I kept "liberating" from my neighbors lawn.

Captain Crunch Crunch Berries...first the crunch then the berries.

I had daycare after school and hated it. I just wanted to be home.

Yay, yay, a Friday Five I can answer! ('Course, today is Sunday...okay, so I'm slow!)

1. Sister Veronica
2. Bugs Bunny!
3. Gail Harris
4. Quaker Puffed Rice (with tons of sugar!)
5. "Casually" walk by the house of a boy I had a crush on

1. Mrs. Moise (Mo-ese)- I now work for the same school district (PISD) that she worked for. I recently went to the administration building and there was a picture of the teachers that taught that year ('56-'57) on the wall. That brought back memories!

2. All Looney Tunes cartoons. However, Tweety Bird is my fav cartoon star! :)

3. Janice Long. She's still alive, I just don't know where she is! I believe she still lives here in Houston, Texas.

4. Cheerios!

5. After school I would do homework and then play outside with my siblings and friends. Now after school (I work at a school) I go home and kick back and relax! Then I get on the computer and check email and watch a little TV. Then I check on my grandkids to see how their day went at school!
