Friday Five, Mamas!

| | Comments (11)

OK, this is not the Friday Five for today from the Friday Five site. On the Friday Five site it is about luck and charms and astrology. I don't wanna do that one. So I picked one from last year in February. I'll answer in the comment boxes with ya'll.

1. What did you have for breakfast this morning? If you didn't have breakfast, why not?

2. What's your favorite cereal?

3. How often do you eat out? Do you want that to change?

4. What do you plan on having for dinner tonight? Got a recipe for that?

5. What's your favorite restaurant? Why?

1. Haven't eaten breakfast yet--I've been too busy letting the dogs out, talking to Shay on the phone, etc, etc, etc. When I do eat, I will eat a Lean Pockets bacon egg and cheese thing. It is 6 WW points and keeps me going 'til lunch.

2. My favorite cereal is oatmeal! (I know, I know, most people thing it is just heated up wallpaper paste....)

3. We eat out WAY TOO OFTEN for the budget. It is a major weakness in our plans.

4. Tonight my parents are taking us out to eat for my birthday. I will eat at Applebees and have an Aztec chicken salad (or something like that). Nope, no recipe. But I will post my taco soup recipe later!

5. My favorite restaurant? Hard one--but if pushed I'd say Moni's--a locally owned Italian restaurant. It's been the scene of some really fun times with people from church and with my family. AND the food's good.

1. I did not eat breakfast. Because I am saving roon for lunch.
2. Special K Berries or the vanilla almond one...yummy.
3. I eat out probably 5 or 6 times a week. Of course I want it to stay that way. I cannot make a Cobb Salad for one at home. Well, not in a cost effective manner...
4. Tonight I will be having Portabello Mushroom Steak Fajitas. I do have the recipe, but Brinker can sue me if I give it out, so you can't have it.
5. My favorite restaurant...hmmm...which to choose. I guess I will have to go with Chili's. Why...because I work there and can eat for discounted rates, or for free if I have really good tables. No really, because the food is the best. Come in and try the new fajitas and the salads...but stay away from the Club Sandwich...MINE MINE!!!

The previous message was brought to you by Brinker International who would like to remind you that a tip is 15%, not whatever is left on the gift card or the change from the 20 on your 19 dollar check.

Mmmmmm Food

1) Apple, banana, water, coffee, Sprouted grain bread (toast) w/preserves.

2) Same as you Terry...oatmeal w'maple syrup.

3) Does fast food or delivery pizza count? If so, about once a week. If you mean real food, about once a month.

4) Salmon. Nope.

5) Riverside Cafe in Bucktown in Chicago. Killer Sunday Brunch and yummy deli. Hasn't changed in 25 years, except for some dust.

Christian...

I need a 12 step program for Chili's Chicken Lettuce Wraps...

ick yuck pth pooey! note to specialK -- if you have to parenthetically explain what you're eating, you probably shouldn't be eating it.
and who knew gruel was such a popular breakfast food around here? gruel, even with maple syrup, is still gruel. kuh-hack! now grits...YUMMmmmMMM!

1. a leftover Pop Tart without the crust.
2. Lucky Charms
3. four or five times a week. yes, if we could afford it.
4. baked rotini pasta. yes. it's on the jar.
5. chili's. it's where hub and i went on our first conclave, and their skillet queso is delicious enough to make you slap your best friend.

1. What did you have for breakfast this morning? If you didn't have breakfast, why not?
Two frozen Eggo Waffles with syrup--and then, later, a surprise Sausage Egg McMuffin (who am I to refuse a gift?).

2. What's your favorite cereal?
Hands down: Total with Half and Half!

3. How often do you eat out? Do you want that to change?
Once a week, Sunday after church. Nope! (Well, maybe occasionally...)

4. What do you plan on having for dinner tonight? Got a recipe for that?
We're being taken out, and the urchins are having pizza delivered! Here's my recipe: SCHMOOZE, BABY!

5. What's your favorite restaurant? Why?
I love Tivoli Gardens in Rosslyn, VA--elegant! I love That's Amore in Sterling, VA--pretty, great broiled calamari, tasty wine, and you can linger for hours without the servers glaring and looking at their watches!

It's not so much the Italian cuisine as the relaxation factor: these nice places make a customer feel welcome and appreciated.

I like the quiz you chose. I didn't like todays friday five either...Think I will use this one next friday at my blog. Thanks for finding it :o)
Donna

1. - Oatmeal. Old-fashioned. With dark brown sugar and butter. Not exactly health food.

2. see above. Or Corn Chex. Or the marshmallows out of Lucky Charms...

3. Not often enough. I wouldn't mind if it changed, but I'm not going to get an extra job or anything to make it happen.

4. Reheated pizza while watching Monk. Recipe: call home when I'm leaving work and tell the lucky person who answers to pop a slice in the oven. I like real heat - nuking it makes it soggy.

5. On earth - Au Pied de Cauchon in Paris (best onion soup ever)

In the US - the Bon Ton Cafe in New Orleans (though Commanders Palace is good, too...)

Locally - The DeerPath Inn in Lake Forest. Good food, quiet, refined, hoity-toity...

the Hoagie Hut in Highwood - not hoity-toity, rather gross ambience if one is sober, but great cheesesteaks. (best if I can convince Rick to make a late nite run and bring the goods home)

or Ferentino's in Lake Forest - very good Italian food (and we get 50% off any item on nites when DD#4 is working there!)

1. No breakfast. I weren't hungry.

2. Life cereal.

3. Every Saturday we bring in Outback Steakhouse food (they have a drive-up, bless 'em) and every Friday ('cept during Lent) we enjoy pizza.

4. See number 3.

5. My favorite is a local restaurant that makes all other food seem small and mean. But the prices ensure it remains a once-a-year visit.

ooops......it's Au Pied de Cochon in Paris.
