i accidentally heard this on the radio and it made me sad

If God has a face
What would it look like?
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints and all the prophets?

And yeah yeah God is great
Yeah yeah God is good
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

Trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody callin' on the phone
Except for the Pope maybe in Rome...

Artist: Joan Osborne
Song: What If God Was One Of Us

That song is almost 10 years old, and I still love it. Without realizing it, Joan Osborne hit on the reality of our incarnational God. He is one of us - that is what makes the Passion so passionate.

Just a small point of clarification...Joan Osborne did not write this song. It was written by Eric Bazilian who was a member of the band called The Hooters. I want to point this out because Joan uses religious themes in her music, but is in no way a good example of Christian music or Christian ideology. The album on which this song appears, Relish, has liner notes which prompt buyers to donate to charities such as Planned Parenthood and their ilk. It is a good song, but let's give creidt where credit is due.

lighten up, francis.
