Friday Feast, ya'll

| | Comments (6)

I'm stealing the feast from Donna, 'cause I didn't like today's feast on their website:

Appetizer
Name 3 things that you think are beautiful.

Soup
What was the last concert you attended?

Salad
What is one thing that frightens you about getting older?

Main Course
Tell us about one of your funny quirks or habits.

Dessert
If you could extend one month to 50 days (instead of the normal 28, 29, 30, or 31), which month would you want to lengthen?

I'll answer in the comments with ya'll.

Beautiful? My kids - Zman, McKid, NieceZ, NephewJ (I could list more, but they said only 3--I already stretched it with 4!)

Concert? It's been awhile--finances made us drop our season tickets to the symphony. Maybe, though, it was Ricky Skaggs at Bass Hall in Fort Worth.

Getting older? That I will develop dementia or Alzheimers. Eeeeek!

Funny quirks? I don't think I have any. I am boringly normal. But then, would *I* notice it as being funny if it were a part of me?

Extended month? October. Cooler around here. No major holidays, and the one that's there is simply for fun.

Beautiful? My daughters, and the grace of God.

Concert? U2, Sept 21, 2005.

Getting Older? This may sound trite, but, dying. Not because I'm afraid of what comes next, but because I want to be here to watch my kids grow up (and grow old themselves) so badly that it hurts.

Quirk? I don't like getting wet. Especially my head. Once I am (pool, shower, etc) I'm fine, but that initial dislike of *getting* wet is really strong.

Extended month...even though it's cold, I'm gonna go with December. More time to bask in the season of Christmas, 'cause it always seems we're thrown back into normal life too soon after the holidays. (Because for most, "Christmas" ends on Dec. 25, where for us it's just beginning!)

Appetizer
my four children, my best friends, my new nephew

Soup
I couldn't even tell you.

Salad
my kids leaving (being alone with my husband. bwahahaa i watched failure to launch last night and that cracked me up)

Main Course
when i make peanut butter sandwich crackers (a favorite around here) the insides/outsides have to be right or it makes me nuts. also i like the sandwich bread to line up properly. and i like things to just be symmetrical in general, really. if you have a bowl of goldfish on one side of your party table/cake, you need a bowl to balance it on the other side.

Dessert
oh. maybe december. or march. or october. i don't know really, if we lengthen one month, will we decrease another? who decided the year had 365 days anyway.

Appetizer: Since my wife and daughter are not things--the sky at sunrise; the sea under almost any circumstances; Lincoln's Second Inaugural. (Lots of other things, too).
Soup: The Friars 50th Anniversary Reunion Concert (the Friars are the a capella octet of the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club).
Salad: Having my wife and friends get sick and die.
Main Course: (I'm so quirky I don't know where to start) I insist on writing dates in day-month-year order.
Dessert: September (by this I assume you mean that you want the characteristics of the month to be prolonged, not simply that there be more days with that month's name); I would compensate by shortening or eliminating February.

Name 3 things that you think are beautiful.
1 - ornamental cabbages
2 - antique silver
3 - my parish church

What was the last concert you attended?
Eric Clapton in Minneapolis - summer 2001

What is one thing that frightens you about getting older?
diminishing energy

Tell us about one of your funny quirks or habits.
I don't like things that are set too close to the edge of the table...

If you could extend one month to 50 days (instead of the normal 28, 29, 30, or 31), which month would you want to lengthen?
December

Beautiful? my wee ones; our choir; friendship.

Concert? this really coolmoe band at the scottish festival, but i don't recall their name.

Getting older? only losing part of my mind.

Funny quirks? i flare my nostrils when i get angry and i make this stupid half grin thingie when i try to lie. basically, i wear my emotions and intentions on my sleeve. no nuance here, nosiree.

Extended month? i'm totally with mamaT on this one. hands down, october.
