Noise is the most impertinent of all forms of interruption. It is not only an interruption, but is also a disruption of thought.

-------- Arthur Schopenhauer

Well, he sounds crabby, doesn't he?

I must be crabby, too, for I found his quote quite apropos...I'm at work and there is a fifth grade art class sitting on the lawn next to the church sketching and talking. The sound of young voices is glorious but highly distracting. (Which is why I am happy to work in the rectory and not the school...)

Schopehauer was said to have loved his dog and hated his kind.

Nevertheless, I am in sympathy with his sentiment.
