Quite right on your review of the movie. I was awake the rest of the night pondering the real importance of some of the scenes after the "reveal" - scenes like Noah's laughing for example. If he's not Catholic he is surely reverential in his depection of things that deserve the appreciation (priests, piety, etc.).
