Kids and the Lord's Prayer

I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer
for several evenings at bedtime,
she would repeat after me the lines from the prayer.
Finally, she decided to go solo.
I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated
each word right up to the end of the prayer:
"Lead us not into temptation," she prayed,
"but deliver us some E-mail.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One particular four-year-old prayed,
"And forgive us our trash baskets
as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."
This is a sworn true story, for I heard it myself! SisterM had been working with the kiddoes on crossing themselves and saying "In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit."
She called, laughing and laughing. "Wait 'til you come to dinner--listen to what Z says when she blesses herself!"
Sure enough--when we blessed ourselves before dinner, we all got quiet to listen to Z. "In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy FERRET!"
She was confused about why we were laughing when the prayer was over!
Cannot resist adding something.
Hail Mary...blessed art thou a monk swimming.
I just love these. I remember as a kid saying the Lord's Prayer and having no clue what a "trespass" was. I figured it was a very bad bridge.
