My answers in extended entry------------>

I've put in bold my answers, and my comments are in parentheses:

Hardback or Paperback
Highlight or Underline
Lewis or Tolkien (especially Till We Have Faces)
E.B. White or A.A. Milne (but the race is neck and neck)
T.S. Eliot or e.e. cummings
Stephen King or Dean Koontz (The Watchers is on my all time favorites list!)
Barnes & Noble or Borders
Waldenbooks or B. Dalton (Don't go to the mall, so I don't know)
Fantasy or Science Fiction (Not sure I understand the distinction
Horror or Suspense (Though I do love some horror--that sounds weird, huh?)
Bookmark or Dogear
Large Print or Fine Print (Large print makes the books too big)
Hemingway or Faulkner (Though I'm not a big fan of either)
Fitzgerald or Steinbeck
Homer or Plato (Slam dunk!)
Geoffrey Chaucer or Edmund Spenser (Never read Spenser, so don't know)
Pen or Pencil (And I even own fountain pens!)
Looseleaf or Notepad (Actually it's spirals and sticky notes, but they weren't choices here)
Alphabetize: By Author or By Title
Shelve: By Genre/Subject or All Books Together
Dustjacket: Leave it On or Take it Off (Both! Take it off to read, put in on to store on the shelf!)
Novella or Epic (Get real, have you read me lately?)
John Grisham or Scott Turrow (Meh. Who cares?)
J.K. Rowling or Lemony Snicket (Never read Lemony Snicket)
John Irving or John Updike ("Beware of the Undertoad")
Salman Rushdie or Don Delillo
Fiction or Non-fiction
Historical Biography or Historical Romance
Reading Pace: A Few Pages per Sitting or Finish at Least a Chapter
Short Story or Creative Non-fiction Essay (Unless, of course, Mr. Luse has written the essay.)
Blah Blah Blah or Yada Yada Yada
“It was a dark and stormy night…” or “Once upon a time…” (And I adore the Bulwer-Lytton annual contest!)
Books: Buy or Borrow (See my checkbook for the damage)
Book Reviews or Word of Mouth (Better yet if the review comes from a friend!)

I was wondering the other day, 'where are all the John Irving fans?'
I should have know I'd find one here.
One of my all time favorite books is A Prayer for Owen Meany. I like Irving's clever way of naming chapters.

I always say 'gradual school' and 'don't be a baby Duncan'...from the Garp movie. :o)

Donna

the problem is, i can't read irving now without feeling sullied by his pinko slant. it's depressing.

too many of those are neithor or both for me.
