1. Yum without the liquor in it. Yuck with it in.
2. Absolutely stay up!
3. Colored lights. And the big ones like from the 50's, not the little twinkle lights.
4. Hark the Herald Angels Sing.
5. I guess my skating snowmen, but I didn't think they were Tacky until Peony said her skating penguins were tacky! :-)
6. Yes, of course.
7. Tree goes up the Saturday before 4th Sunday of Advent. Comes down on Epiphany. (The rest of our neighborhood must think we're nuts--most of the trees in their houses are gone by about the 28th!)
8. Christmas morning--we go to midnight mass on the 24th, spilling over into the parish breakfast that lasts until 2 a.m. or so.
9. Tamales and chili for supper on Christmas Eve followed by midnight mass.
10. A Home Depot gift certificate so I can build the shelves for my flamingo collection.

1. Yuck. Eggnog is just too rich for me.
2. Of course I stay up! In my teenage years I used to stay up until 3:00 or 4:00 am, but now I crash around 1:00.
3. Colored lights. And I agree with MamaT - those big ones are the best. When I was a kid I used to melt strands of tinsel on the bulbs for fun.
4. We Three Kings, with all the verses.
5. Um, we've only been married for a couple years, so we don't really have any tacky decorations yet.
6. I don't have kids.
7. The tree went up this year on Saturday before the second Sunday of Advent. It will come down after Epiphany.
8. On Christmas morning, after stockings, Morning Prayer, showers, Mass, and breakfast. It's usually afternoon by the time we finish opening the presents.
9. Christmas Eve, where we hang stockings and have a fire in the fireplace, and Mom reads the Grinch and Dad reads The Night Before Christmas and also the story of the nativity from Luke.
10. Something pretty, like a new pair of earrings.

1) Homemade Eggnog, the store stuff is awful
2)stay up
3) Colored lights
4)O Holy Night
5)Crocheted Snowmen
6) No, I feel a little bad about this in contrast to my own childhood, we usually try to get them one 'good' present that will serve for a long time (nice building blocks, a durable doll house without too many tiny pieces)
7) It normally goes up the day after Thanksgiving, but this year we were expecting a baby that day so . . . we still need to put it up
8) Christmas morning!
9) Midnight Mass
10) my grandmother's sewing desk

1. Yum, if made with Capt. Morgan's
2. Usually.
3. Colored.
4. In the Bleak Midwinter by Harold Darke, words by Cristina Rossetti
5. The fiber-optic rotating miniature tree.
6. We don't (can't) have kids, but our dog is dang near spoilt.
7. We haven't put up a regular tree since 2001 (see no. 6).
8. Depends on how fried I am when I get home from Midnight Mass. Sometimes we open a present or two then, just for fun.
9. Probably the music-making, but then that has its drawbacks as well.
10. Less to do and more time to do it.

1. Yum, esp. with spiced rum.
2. Most of the time.
3. White
4. O Holy Night
5. The wicker baskets with Santa and Mrs. Claus in them.
6. No, we only buy one big, long-lasting gift. But my mother goes completely overboard every year.
7. Goes up on pink Sunday, comes down on Epiphany.
8. Christmas morning.
9. Christmas dinner.
10. I laready have it -- a dishwasher!!! And a new hair cut.

I don't mean that my dancing penguins are tacky in themselves; they're more "cutesy." It's just the closest to tacky thing I can think of. I have nothing on the scale of TSO's marvel!

MamaT - a big amen on the big lights from the '50s. The twinkle lights are a sign of the decline of Western Civilization.

Peony, you might not believe this, but my wife doesn't want to put it up this year. Or any year in the future. It's going to be a test of wills. *grin*

1. Egg nog - yum or yuck?
It's a great cooking ingredient and sets off rum really well. I prefer the homemade cooked custard style, but usually end up buying a quart or two and then am the only one consuming it.

7. tree go up and come down?
No tree of my own - my parents follow a strict ritual. Tree up on the 22nd (Mom's bday), lights on 23rd, decorations etc. 24th. tree down - ideally on epiphany, sometimes later- ha ha
8. presents - Here in Germany on the 24th. At home, Christmas morning, after Mass, after breakfast and not a minute before.

A Merry and Blessed Christmas to you all,
Ann

1. Egg nog - yum or yuck? I haven't tried it for a long time & tastes change. Maybe i'll try it this year.

2. Stay up until midnight on New Years? Of course. I stay up till 12 other nights too.

3. Prefer white or colored lights? Mostly white but colored are nice too.

4. Favorite holiday song? Favorite CHRISTMAS song - Oh Holy Night. and Go Tell It On The Mountain. And I do like the hanukka song, even though I can't spell it. Just cause Adam Sandler is so funny.

5. What is your tackiest holiday decoration? This fabric wreath my husbands grandmother gave us, I don't know if she made it or not. I always display it cause she gave it to us.

6. Do your kids have too much and you wonder just WHY you are getting more?? Yes. But we get rid of toys they don't play with anymore (anyone want a couple of big plastic green hulks? they have hardly touched the things)

7. If you celebrate Christmas, when does your tree go up and come down? Go up - after the birthdays (actually we'll probably put it up this Friday even though the birthdays are Sunday & Monday, because of when I've been working lately). Comes down in January.

8. Christmas again - open presents on Christmas eve, morning, or other? Christmas eve with whichever family (parents or in-laws) has us that year (this year it's my parents). Christmas day here at home just ourselves, and in the afternoon with whichever other family. Too much celebrating ;)

9. Favorite holiday tradition? Midnight Mass. Especially singing Silent Night. My favorite favorite part. It's the most peaceful, happy time of the whole year.

10. What do YOU want for Christmas? Got it (jasons job). Uhm. Other than that there isn't much. I want to decorate my house, which I will be starting in January (now that we'll have a little extra money each month, rather than not enough).
