1. Helps me fall asleep? Everything. I am continually sleep deprived. It would be easier to ask what DIDN'T make me fall asleep! That's tragic, huh?

2. Brings out the best in me? PapaC by a bunch.

3. On a rainy day? Stay inside, snuggle on the couch with an afghan, and READ, READ, READ! Unfortunately, usually I must get out and DO stuff, getting my feet wet and my clothes damp.

4. In our home we never have enough.....cold air. Our air conditioner is too small for the house, and it cannot be changed because our ducts are too small, and they can't be changed because.....well, you get the drift. In the summer there is never enough COLD AIR!

5. Shoe on first? the Right shoe. And it's sock/shoe, sock/shoe, just in case you wanted to know that, too.

I just recently discovered the Summa Mamas and thought this would be a fun way to introduce myself. My name is Margie & I live in the midwest with my wonderful husband & 2 beautiful daughters. Our oldest daughter will be making her First Holy Communion on May 1st, I'm just bursting with pride. Anyways, here are my responses:

Name something that helps you fall asleep: Rocking a child to sleep. I usually fall asleep before they do.

Who brings out the best in you: On a good day, my kids.

What do you like to do on a rainy day: Curl up under the comforter & fall asleep listening the the rain on the roof.

In our house we never have enough: Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. The girls put it on practically everything!

Which shoe do you put on first: The first one I grab. Sock - Sock; Shoe - Shoe

1. A good day well spent

2. My kids

3. Sleep

4. Hot water!

5. I don't know. I've taken off my shoes and attempted to put them back on but I'm now paralyzed with indecision. Well, I guess I'll be in for the rest of the evening... :)

Which shoe do you put on first?
Right I think, maybe left. I'm not too picky about it. Whichever one I grab first, really. (now i'm reciting The Foot Book in my head. Left foot Right foot Feet Feet Feet How many many feet you meet)

1. A good snuggle with my husband.

2. The Lord. And I'm not trying to sound religious. I had a Saul-to-Paul conversion, so I'm consciously aware of the fact that I am a completely different person than I was before Him. Also, He uses my husband, my kids and my father confessor to help out here.

3. Sit on the porch swing with the kids if it's a nice spring rain. If it's a torential downpour or a cold fall rain, I'd rather be in the house reading & cuddling with the kids with something yummy baking in the oven.

4. ...money.

5. Whichever shoe I happen to pick up first.

Sparki,
That is a perfect answer...the one about who brings out the best in you.

Me too.

Without Him.

I would be a train wreck!

1. Norah Jones on the CD player.
2. Honest friends.
3. Crossword puzzles.
4. Never enough counter space.
5. Whichever shoe is right-side-up.

1. A good, boring book.

2. My unborn baby, I love being prego!

3. Dance to blaring tejano music with my husband and toddler. Makes me happy.

4. We never have enough milk. Or paper towels.

5. Left shoe first. Always!

SLEEP: A glass of red wine. Or two.

THE BEST: My OCDS community. I seem to be a slightly better person after meetings.

RAINY DAY: Vats of hot, strong tea, coffee cake ( my mother's recipe) and a good novel.

NEVER ENOUGH: Room. Book shelves, in particular. There are 4 1/2 walls of floor-to-ceiling shelves crammed to over-flowing and there are still books on my desk, the kitchen table, sideboards, lamp-stands, the dining room table, the floor and boxes of them in the garage. It wouldn't be so bad if only one of us were obsessed but there is a pair of us in it.

WHICH SHOE: The one in my hand. With any luck the next one I pick up will even match the first.

Cheers,

-John-

1. Sleep? The mere thought of it and I'm gone...
2. Any one of the multiple good and holy priests I know... nothing like the sight of a Roman collar to both get my act together and put a smile on the face!
3. Read while watching/listening to the rain
4. In our home, we never have enough... TP!
5. Right shoe first. And it's socks first, then shoes!

SLEEP: Saying the rosary. I don't know if I get too relaxed or what, but I have a hard time completing it without dozing off, no matter what time of day it is. I keep trying, though, knowing God likes effort.

THE BEST: I have to say Jesus, but I wish I would stay "best" even when I'm not particularly conscious of His presence.

RAINY DAY: Reading or knitting, with tea or coffee, while the soup simmers or the bread rises.

NEVER ENOUGH: Bookshelf and closet space. But having a deficit forces me into constant selectivity and discourages hoarding. So it's a good thing, sort of.

SHOE: I couldn't tell you. They get on, though. My mind is always on 14 other things as I dress.

Something that helps me fall asleep - sitting down.
Who brings out the best in me - my children, each one in different ways.
On a rainy day I love to get under my blankie, and watch T.V. I used to love to read, but that makes me go to sleep.
In our home, we never have enough time together, or kleenex.
I put on which ever shoe I can find, then crawl around looking for the other one. If I have to abandon the search and get another pair, I put the left one on first.

Name something that helps you fall asleep.

Who brings out the best in you?

Cacciaguida.

What do you like to do on a rainy day?

Complete this sentence: In our home, we never have enough...

Which shoe do you put on first?

Whichever comes to hand first; one of the few things I'm not compulsive about.

Late to the feast:

Appetizer: a fan pointed at the bed. A fresh pillowcase.

Soup: Holy people, who love Jesus very much. I find myself slowing down, getting quiet, fading into the crowd in my mind.

Salad: Make soup or stew or something that takes a long cooking time. Read.

Main Course: books.

Dessert: Right shoe! I think....
